Autumn Term

This term our history topic was WW2. We have found it really interesting and enjoyed having many debates! Our favourite things were learning about how the war started and who was involved, women’s roles before, during and after the war and how rationing was implemented. We have read the novel ‘Friend or Foe’ by Michael Morpurgo, which has helped us to understand what it was like as an evacuee in this time.

Joan Miro was our artist study for the first few weeks and we found his work to be quite unusual! We created our own art work and sculptures using his style.

Science has been really experiential this term. For the first half term we learnt about electricity, including making circuits, our own traffic lights and testing out different hypotheses. This half term we have enjoyed learning about and investigating forces. Our favourite lesson was when we had to test air resistance by running up and down the playground!

We have really liked using Oddizzi to help us with our Geography topic on ‘Mountains’ this half term. We now know what the ‘Seven Summits’ are, what a mountain is, how it’s formed and what it’s like to live on or near a mountain. Studying different mountains in detail enabled us to deepen our understanding.
